Trying to Create New Habits? Try Habit Stacking…

Habit stacking is where you complete the new habit before doing a habit that you enjoy (and is already established).

So for example, when I wanted to start drinking more water I would require myself to drink a quart of water before I had my morning hot beverage, which is one of the highlights of my morning. So I had to ‘earn’ my morning mate’. This has worked wonderfully for me.

Some other habits that can be stacked on are:

  • Before you take a shower
  • Before you go to bed
  • Before you eat lunch
  • Before you can start working
  • Before dessert

The key for this working is to stack the habit before another habit that you really look forward to and enjoy.
